Two Ears, One Mouth
This week let's discuss an undervalued skill: Mastering the Lost Art of Listening.
This week let's discuss an undervalued skill: Mastering the Lost Art of Listening.
As my mom always said, "Do you know why we have two ears and one mouth? So that we are able to listen twice as much as we talk."
In our fast-paced, tech-driven world, focused listening has become a rare gift. We're often too hurried and distracted to truly hear each other.
But when we listen fully, magic happens - bonds strengthen, insights emerge, and innovative solutions unite.
Tips for Becoming a More Effective Listener
Give your full attention - avoid distractions.
Make eye contact and reflect back key points.
Ask thoughtful follow-up questions.
Don't interrupt or form replies while others speak.
Thank people for sharing once they've finished.
The greatest honor we can give is the gift of our attention. Listen to understand, not simply respond.
Open your ears and shut your mouth. You'll be amazed at what you discover.
