Sweet Tea and the Customer-Focused Business

Discover the importance of brewing sweetness into your business strategy from day zero for an authentic and customer-focused approach.

Hello!

Do you prefer your iced tea sweet, or unsweet?

As a kid growing up in New Jersey, "iced tea" was served unsweet by default. (If you asked someone for a "sweet tea", you’d usually receive a bottle of Snapple.)

It was only when we moved to Florida that the clarifying question of sweet/unsweet was asked.

If you're someone who normally enjoys sweet tea, you know there is a definitive difference between brewed sweet tea and unsweet tea with a sugar packet (or 12) on the side.

Now, imagine your glass of tea was your business... How sweet is it? How has the sweetness been added? (brewed with sweetness in mind, or added after the fact?)

The Point?

To be truly "sweet" in the most authentic sense of the word, it is crucial to, first affirm you want to be sweet, then start with the sugar from day zero - brew it into your business. Be intentional. Be a customer-focused business, let them experience the same level of sweetness from beginning to end.

Anyone who's ever tried to make unsweet tea sweet knows two things happen:

  1. Your first sip after adding the sugar is like a mouth full of sand and way too sweet.

  2. The sweetness eventually runs out.

The same is true when trying to make a customer-focused business out of one that hasn't historically put a priority on customer service.

Kind Regards,
